A message from our Co-Managing Director

Dear Mayors, city leaders and partners,

After a truly inspiring 5+ years working with the Mayors Innovation Project, I’m writing to let you know that I am leaving, and my last day will be Friday, August 13. I am so grateful to the dedicated mayors and city leaders who have shared their experiences and knowledge in the time we’ve worked together. Thank you to our members and partners for continuing to participate in MIP’s work, creating meaningful opportunities for peer learning and policy innovation.

I am especially grateful to the team here at MIP and colleagues at COWS, UW-Madison. As we all did in 2020, our team faced unexpected challenges (tossing out the workplan and starting from scratch!). We navigated new ways to work and to sustain a commitment to that work. Katya Spear and Emily Miota, along with our support team, will continue to guide the project expertly, providing high-quality and inclusive opportunities for mayors to share their best work.

I am exploring new career opportunities and will know more about my next move in the coming weeks; and I’m also completing a graduate program in Social Innovation Design. I hope to continue to cross paths with local government leaders around innovative policy approaches.

Best wishes,
