As a leader, learning to successfully manage a crisis happens while on the job, in real time. A crisis will prove to be one of the most challenging yet defining moments of any mayor’s career. Now more than ever, newly-elected mayors need support–so the kickoff for our 2020 New Mayors Cohort last month was particularly timely. In our first session, our new mayors learned from former mayors: Betsy Hodges (Minneapolis, MN), Mark Mallory (Cincinnati, OH), and Annise Parker (Houston, TX). A Network For Local Youth Civic Engagement Groups
Network for Youth Civic Engagement (N-YCE, pronounced like “nice”) is a brand new tool launched for local youth councils, mayor’s youth advisory boards, or other youth civic engagement groups to share great ideas and build relationships across the country.
Youth civic engagement groups should have youth members be associated with a local government entity, and engage in advocacy, elected official or public education, and/or community service. To join or learn more, email laura@lfurrconsulting.org.
